Enjoying the games and other competitions, for us the month passes like an express train. Friends become foes during games. Our competitive spirit increases. Do or die to win the game that becomes the motto. Literary and cultural events make us turn the pages in the books to gather information. We learn a lot while preparing to participate in literary events. Especially the debate makes us compete with our friends and ready to fight with words. Participation is stress-free but the wait for the result makes us at times apprehensive. We console reminding ourselves that participation is more important.

Children's Day in my school
Children's Day is on 14 November. Our Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday is on this day. We celebrate his birthday as Children's Day because Jawaharlal Nehru loved children. In my school we celebrated Children's Day. We enjoyed watching the performance of our teachers. Our teachers sang songs, danced, performed skit etc. It was nice to see teachers performing to make us happy. We cannot forget that day.

Prize Winning Essay (Winter Fest 2008-09)
Girl child is a boon
A girl child is a gift given by God to a parent. In ancient times, people resorted to female infanticide and practiced child marriage and 'Sati'. In those days girls were not encouraged, not sent to school. Their activities were limited to the four walls of their homes.
Now, in the modern society girls are educated, encouraged and sent to school. Girl child is a boon because a girl always helps her mother in cooking, washing clothes etc. Now a days girls are excelling in all competitions in the field of education and games. They study well and are becoming doctors, engineers and lawyers. Because of a girl child, the next generation is produced. Today's parents feel great about their girl. She is very intelligent and has the capacity to learn. She has all the answers to her problems. Hence a girl child is a boon to parents and society.

Environmental pollution
Environmental pollution means spoiling the nature in all the ways. This usually happens when we pollute land, water, air and by creating sound pollution. If we bury any chemical or anything it naturally starts decomposing. Due to the chemicals buried, the land gets polluted and thereby turns infertile. The effect is that in those areas we cannot grow crops. The wastes discharged from the reactors or factories will flow to the nearby lakes or rivers. Thereby, water gets polluted. In rivers and lakes many animals live. If we pollute these rivers they cannot live there. Air pollution is the other type of pollution mainly caused by the smoke discharged from the factories or vehicles. It goes up into atmosphere. If that smoke goes up into air, we won't get sufficient rainfall and as a result crops get dried up. If we keep much volume in televisions, radios etc., it causes sound pollution. Due to sound pollution we get diseases related to hearing. There is even a chance that we may turn deaf.
So, environmental pollution is very dangerous. To avoid this, we should take the following steps. We must not destroy forests, we should protect them. Smoke producing industries or factories must be in the outskirts of cities or towns. We must not spit on roads. We must not blow horns of vehicles unnecessarily because it causes sound pollution. After all we should educate people about pollution and its bad effects.

Cell phones-advantages and disadvantages
Cell phone has become a most important thing in the life of human beings. It is one of the main sources of communication now-a-days. In the olden days our people used to send messages using a messenger pigeon or with a messenger. For that we had to spend a huge amount and it was time consuming. But in the early 19th century, the British had invented postal system. Through this we send letters and telegrams. It takes 2 to 3 days to reach to the other person.
Now-a-days, people are using cell phones to communicate. It takes only a few minutes to pass information over a cell phone. For example, the person A, in Mumbai can know about his relatives in America within seconds. Close contacts with our friends, relatives, with our parents, etc., are possible through a cell phone. However, it becomes a fashion to maintain a cell phone in our country. There is hardly any without a cell phone. Years ago only businessmen used it to help their busy schedule and to contact their clients.
There are certain advantages of cell phone. It helps us to contact anyone at any place. It is the cheapest media to send messages. With the help of the camera fixed in this, we can take photos wherever we go for slight seeing. Cell phone is well modified that we can access internet in cell phone itself. We can enjoy music by downloading or recording the songs in our cell phone. It has the options for bluetooth, FM, radio, calendar, alarm, phone book etc.
There are certain disadvantages as well. The disadvantages of cell phones, the youngsters at times misuse this. Many cannot afford this; still they buy it taking a loan. Even terrorist use it for communication. Children waste their time by playing games in cell phone and thereby lose interest in studies.

Hats off to IRS
I live at Gutta, Hyderabad. My father is a worker in a fan company and mother is a house wife. My brother is also studying in IRS. I scored 523/600, 87% in Class X though I expected 90%. All this is with the help of my teachers and friends. I joined IRS two years ago in 2007. At that time, the financial condition of my father was very bad. The nominal fee structure, teaching methods and facilities provided for the students at IRS attracted my parents and they joined me in this school. The competitions and the teaching methods in my school enabled me to achieve this marks. Big Bang, the Interschool Science Exhibition organized by IRS, was a thrilling experience for me. From IRS Fateh Nagar, we exhibited a working model, 'Drip Irrigation' which won the first prize. Now, I am doing my intermediate first year. I have opted MPC stream. I want to become a software engineer. I am sure that my parents cannot afford to send me for B.Tech. So I will score high marks and get the merit seat. I wish all the best for IRS and its students.

Thanks to IRS
I am Ravi Kiran, joined IRS in 2007. My family consists of 4 members including me. I stay near to the school. My father is working in a packers and movers private company and my mother is a house wife. When
I completed my 8th class, my father started searching for a school that charges hardly any fee and he found IRS. IRS provided me all the facilities. My teachers were very friendly. My favourite teachers are Jayanthi ma'am and Rajini ma'am. Science is my favourite subject. I scored 94/100 in Science and my total marks tally is 523/600. I could have scored better marks if I had not fallen sick during the time of examinations. I want to become an engineer thus earn a living. I like to play cricket to relax and enjoy. Once I get a job, I definitely will help the students like me.

decorate the house with color balloons, ribbons, many bells and
color balls. Then we go to church. There we pray for his blessing
then cut the cake. Then we have a small party. In my house
also we cut the cake and we gave gifts to my relatives and friends.
We all enjoy the party. In the party we play games.

On
?Lagaan?
My
opinion on this film is
that, if we have to do
something then we have to
struggle for it. If we have
to reach our goal we have to
do hard work. I like that
film very much. The hero had
struggled to win the match.
He gathered all the people
of his village and he won
the match. He tried and
tried and he reached his
goal. He struggled for it
very much. Every impossible
thing is possible. If we
have to do something in
future, we have to struggle
for it and work hard for it.

If
I were the school head boy ??
If
I were the school head boy, I would go to school and mind my
classroom and other class rooms also. I can tell the small children
not to run in the corridors and also not to fight. I will
instruct them to switch of the lights and fans when not in use.
I will keep the corridors neat and I will help the students to form
line in the lunch time to sit in a line. I will make my
teachers and the headmistress happy.

Cinema: Screening of ?Lagaan?
I
understood that by watching the movie that we must have unity. We
should not have caste feeling. If we have the confidence to do
something, definitely we will be successful persons. And we should
not think that city people know everything and the village people
don?t know anything. It is very important to understand that
every person has ability to do something.
